Definition – Pindi is a procedure in which paste of medicated herbs covered and
enfolded by bandage should be kept over eyes for one Muhurta (approx. 45-50
minutes).
It gives complete rest to eyes. Because of the induced pressure created by Pindi,
the vessels are dilated and drainage is facilitated. This animates the blood
stream around the eyes.
Method – Medicinal herbs should be made into kalka (paste) and covered and
enfolded by a piece of bandage.
Patient is asked to lie down on the Droni (procedure table) in the supine position.
One small piece of cotton is put on the pinna of ear on each side. Eyelids should
be gently wiped with cotton dipped in lukewarm water. Then kalka in bandage
should be kept over the eyelids and patient has to lie down on Droni for 45-50
minutes. Afterwards, Pindi can be taken out and wasted and eyelids should be
gently wiped with cotton dipped in lukewarm water.
