Definition –Medicine applied in the form of collerium is called as Anjanam. It is
applied with a Special Probe ‘Shalaka’. It is applied at inner side of lower eyelid
from inner canthus towards outer canthus. But now a days, it is available in the
form of drops, so it became easy to apply anjana by own self also.
It is extraordinary ayurvedic purifying treatment including pouring of home grown
concentrates. It helps expel the contaminations from eyes, influences it to clear
and enhances vision. Gives a general cooling, invigorating and alleviating feeling
to the eyes.
Anjanam is applied as a preventive measure in daily routine also.
Method –.

Patient is asked to lie down on the procedure table in the supine
position. One small piece of cotton is put on the pinna of ear on each side. Eyelids
should be wiped with cotton dipped in lukewarm water. Collerium is rubbed with
the honey and applied at the inner side of lower eyelid from inner canthus
towards outer canthus with the Shalaka.
But now a days, we can put a drop of anjanam also. At the end, eyelids should be
wiped again with the cotton dipped in lukewarm water or medicinal decoction.

Indications – Dry eye disease, Glaucoma, Diabetic retinopathy, Retinal and
Macular degenerations, Optic nerve degenerations, corneal degenerations and
dystrophy, Squint, etc…

Contraindications – Acute inflammations of eyes like acute conjunctivitis, acute
Uveitis, acute Keratitis, acute inflammation of eyelids etc…
